Championship Sunday

A great day for a championship! These teams in our Asian Open Division and Asian Rec Division played their hearts out for the elusive TDS Championship!

In the Asian Open Division, we had the defending champions #1 seed Boogie going up against #6 seed Rock Center! They played tight in the first half. Rock Center actually held the lead for most of the half. Robert Noland led the Rock Center in scoring with 23pts and Nate Bevan added 14pts! Boogie, on the other hand, had the return of their twin towers! Ant Navarette and Prabe Bolaria posed quite a front that proved to be to much for Rock Center to handle! The victory did not come easy though. The game was quite close throughout. The lead for either team was just 3pts in the first three quarters! It wasn’t until the combination of Ant and Prabe combined for 15pts in the final period to win the second consecutive championship, 70-62!

In the Asian Rec Division, the first matchup had #10 Make It Drizzle taking on #3 Bangarang. Drizzle had it going in the first half! RJ Arciaga (35pts) kept them in the game but the combination of Drew (31pts) and Brandon (15pts) our Drizzle away for good! In the second semifinal game, #5 Jackson Arms took on #1 Threat Matrix. The second quarter did not fair well for Threat Matrix. They only scored 5pts in the quarter ending their quest for their first elusive TDS championship!

In the championship game, #5 Jackson Arms was facing #3 Bangarang! Isiah Martinez and Andy Nguy combined for 47pts! Putting the #3 seed in an uphill battle! Trailing by 17pts going into the second half, Bangarang started their comeback! Behind Drew’s 27pts (18 came in the second half) Bangarang cut into the deficit! But Brendan’s 9pts in the fourth quarter put Bangarang to rest and gave Jackson Arms their first TDS Championship!

What a wild day! You guys proved to be Second To None! I for one cannot wait until we start it up again in June! Thank you to all the players who played their hearts out and to all of the people who worked to provide the best league in the city! See you all next league!
