A Brief Synopsis of Week 1

TripleDoubleSports is back my friends and we’ve come back stronger than ever! This session we present to you 3 different divisions! Division 2, Division 3 Upper and Division 3 Lower! We’ve tried to make each division as competitive as the next. We feel that we’ve accomplished that feat. Every game (except for one) was competitive, some going to the buzzer! We look forward to this season because, if Week 1 shows us anything, it’s going to be quite a ride to the finish line!

Division 2

D2 started out the day with the Dawgs blowing out D3 champs, Guap! Ryan Sera scored 26pts and James Na added 12pts as the Dawgs beat Guap with ease. Captain Adonis Bulanhagui didn’t seemed to be fazed by the loss saying, “We’ll be alright when Maynard (Raymundo) and Prince are back!” A preview of what could be the Finals, when the Bulls took on POS Place (formerly the Prodigies)! This game went down to the wire! With POS Place coming out with the win! Sean Caiola showed out big time with 32pts! DJ played well scoring 28pts in a losing effort! The final contest in D2 was Rock Center vs. Squad Up! This was yet another close game! Squad Up was winning after the third quarter but seemed to take its foot off the gas pedal letting Rock Center back in the game. But Nick Wong hit the game winning shot with time running out in overtime to win!

Division 3 Upper

We began with SF Warriors vs. Threat Matrix! SF Warriors were led by Alvin Lim’s 29pt performance in defeating Threat Matrix! Chris Knight (TM) said, “We planned to lose our first game then win the rest! Lol!” Let’s see if your prediction comes true! A couple of shootouts ended the day. First, Trench Town took on former champs, Bangarang. Trench Town, new to TDS this season, came out strong! Lucas Magni and Cole Broqua came out with a combined 51pts en route to a 75-68 victory! In the other D3 Upper Division game, we had Team Revolution taking on Make It Drizzle! Make It Drizzle’s captain, Kyle Dayanghirang, was confident his team would make some noise in the division. They did in the first half jumping out to a 10pt first quarter lead. RJ (MID) lead everyone in scoring w/ a season high 44pts! Team Revolution had an answer! Marvin Mendoza (28pts) and Varz (24pts) combined to score 52pts! A late steal by Marvin led to a game wining layup as time expired! Wow!

D3 Lower

We kicked off the new season with a battle between the Saints and Bay Area Jams! The Jams came out strong! Scoring 46 first half points led by Georgio Reed’s 25. The Saints had an answer in the combination of Paul and Gio! Together they scored 34pts to lead the Saints to a 3pt victory! In the final contest of the day, the SF Hoopers took on newcomers Fam 1st! A group of family members took the court! Led by James Manalang and his 20pt performance. The led after the first quarter, but it was all SF Hoopers after that! Good win for the Hoopers and growing pains for Fam 1st! Good effort all around!
